Prof. Elad Anter – Acting Director of the Heart Institute
Prof. Elad Anter is a world-renowned cardiologist specializing in the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias. Over the past 20 years, he has developed innovative methods and technologies for treating arrhythmias in his laboratory and has trained numerous physicians from around the world who came to specialize in his department.
He is a sought-after international lecturer, an associate editor of prestigious medical journals, and a member of guideline-writing committees for the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias.
Prof. Anter graduated from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem School of Medicine and subsequently completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, affiliated with Harvard University. He then completed his fellowship in cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology at the University of Pennsylvania, a leading institution in the field. Following his training, he returned to Boston and joined Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center as a senior physician.
Prof. Anter has returned to Israel to advance the field of cardiology and cardiac electrophysiology at Shamir Medical Center (Assaf Harofeh), where he is establishing one of the world’s most advanced centers, combining innovative treatments, groundbreaking international research, and the training of the next generation in clinical and academic excellence.
Dr. Moshe Atiya – Director of the Neurosurgery Unit
Dr. Moshe Atiya is a senior neurosurgeon specializing in skull-base and cerebrovascular surgery.
He previously served as Director of Skull-Base Surgery at the Department of Neurosurgery at Sheba Medical Center, and as a senior neurosurgeon at Hadassah and Rambam Medical Centers, where he performed numerous complex brain and skull-base surgeries.
Dr. Atiya completed an extensive three-year clinical academic fellowship in skull-base and cerebrovascular surgery at leading centers in the United States, including the University of Washington and the University of Illinois, as well as in Israel.
As a senior surgeon with extensive experience in complex brain surgery, he performs procedures including resection of skull-base tumors, meningiomas, acoustic neuromas, benign and malignant brain tumors, transnasal pituitary surgery, clipping of cerebral aneurysms, cerebral bypass procedures, traumatic brain surgery, cavernomas, trigeminal neuralgia procedures and general neurosurgery.
Dr. Atiya graduated from Hadassah and the Hebrew University School of Medicine in 2001, among the top 5% of his class. He completed his neurosurgical residency at Sheba Medical Center between 2001 and 2007 and became a board-certified neurosurgeon in Israel in May 2007. He subsequently completed a three-year clinical academic fellowship in skull-base and cerebrovascular surgery, including two years in the United States and one year in Jerusalem (2007–2010), during which he participated in and performed dozens of complex procedures, gaining extensive clinical and surgical experience.

Dr. Dana Ben-Ami, Director of the Gastroenterology Institute, is a leading figure in gastroenterology in Israel and internationally.
