A particularly festive evening for the inauguration of the new Shlomo Schmelzer Neurological Institute at the Shamir Medical Center (Assaf Harofeh), in Savion at the home of Atalia Schmelzer, the controlling owner of the Shlomo Group.

The guests were welcomed by members of the Shemelzer family, Atalia Shemelzer, Assi Shemelzer, Tobi Shemelzer and Israel and Ofra Reif, together with the chairman of the Friends of Shamir Association, Yair Shamir, the director of the medical center, Dr. Asanat Levtzion Korah and the CEO of the Friends of the Shamir Association, Sigal Ader .

On the festive evening, the new Shlomo Shemelzer Neurological Institute was presented, headed by Dr. Shlomi Peretz, director of the neurological system in Shemir, which will be used by thousands of patients every year, and will contain clinics in various fields of neurology, under one roof, including an epilepsy clinic, a stroke clinic, Parkinson movement disorder clinic, headache clinic, neuromuscular disease clinic, memory clinic and for the first time in Israel – a unique clinic for the treatment of M.e.l.a.s.

It should be emphasized that the neurological system at the Shamir Medical Center has been in a tremendous development boom in the last two years and currently leads the number of brain catheters in Israel by a considerable margin from the rest of the hospitals. The establishment of the new institute is part of a comprehensive plan of the process of turning the hospital into the largest medical center in Israel in the coming years, in accordance with the decisions of the Israeli government and the expected demographic growth in the region.

The guests enjoyed a toast to the New Year and a guest performance by the artist of the senses Nimrod Harel, who contributed his performance to the event.

Donors for the little ones – 4.5 million shekels were raised at the annual fundraising event.

The Friends of Shamir Association held the annual fundraising event for the Shamir Medical Center (Asaf Harofeh) in Zapa Kerem Barkan Hulda.

The annual fundraising event of the Friends of Shamir Association was held in Zappa Kerem Barkan with the aim of raising donations for the construction of a new tiny unit in the premature department of the Shamir Medical Center. Amir Dadon and Miri Masika performed in front of about 300 participants. The guests were welcomed by the chairman of the association Yair Shamir, the director of the hospital – Dr. Osnat Levzion Korah and the CEO of the Friends Association – Sigal Adar. Dr. Osnat Levtzion Korah, director of the Shamir Medical Center: “Following government decisions, the Shamir Medical Center is about to become the largest medical center in Israel within a few years. Sigal Adar, CEO of the Friends Association who led the fundraising campaign for the project shared that in joint efforts with those present – we met the goal – a total of NIS 4.5 million was raised, the project plans are in the final stages of planning and approvals and this July we will set off.

Prof. Iris Morg, Director of the Prematurity Department of the Shamir Medical Center excitedly spoke about the need to establish the new tiny unit which will include five private hospital rooms for premature babies who will be born at very young weeks and will be able to stay together with their family and thus provide them with the best care. “I am excited to stand here today and see all the people who came especially to help our little ones, those who need the soft touch, the dedicated care and the warm embrace of the hospital staff from the moment they arrive in the world. For many families, premature birth is considered a shocking and traumatic experience that will accompany them for the rest of their lives. The goal Ours is to provide optimal medical treatment together with emotional support adapted to the new family (parent and baby), to prevent pain and suffering from premature babies, to adapt the treatment at every moment to their changing developmental needs, to make it easier for the parents during the prolonged hospitalization while creating a process of parental growth and empowerment.”

Yair Shamir, chairman of the Friends of Shamir Association: “I thank the many donors who honored us today with their presence and donated their best money to help us establish the new tiny unit in the pediatric department of the Shamir Medical Center. For the wonderful medical team of Peggia, headed by Prof. Iris Morgam, it is a daily mission to save lives, with all that implies, and especially when it comes to small premature babies who are born weighing hundreds of grams and need the most dedicated care, with the most advanced infrastructure, so that they can grow stronger and live a healthy and safe life.”

After two years of the Corona epidemic, the friends of Shamir Medical Center are finally meeting.

A particularly festive evening for the Friends of Shamir association was held at the home of Michal and Ohad Lebkowitz, friends of the medical center.

The guests were welcomed by the chairman of the association – Yair Shamir, the director of the hospital – Dr. Osnat Levzion-Korah and the CEO of the Friends Association – Sigal Adar.

In a one-on-one conversation between the director of the hospital, Dr. Osnat Levzion Korah, the first woman to be appointed director of a government hospital, and the journalist Vared Rivlin Ramon, Dr. Levzion – Korah referred to the dramatic growth event that the hospital is going through: approval for the construction of the hospital in the region of one million “R, Beer Ya’akov Psychiatric Hospital, Shmuel Harofeh Geriatric Hospital and the Institute of Forensic Medicine are moving to the hospital’s premises, massive demographic growth is expected on the hospital’s fences and as a result Shamir Medical Center will become the largest hospital in Israel in the coming years.

As part of the preparations for the dramatic growth, Dr. Daniel Trotsky – Director of the Department of Emergency Medicine – presented the flagship project: the construction of a new ER and a tower of operating and hospitalization rooms in a project costing 300 million dollars.

Sigal Adar, the CEO of the Friends Association, which is leading the re-establishment of the association, stated that although the members of the association have not met for two years, good things happened. New friends joined and gave a serious boost to the development of the hospital. As of today, the association has tripled the total donations to the hospital which today stand at about NIS 42 million per year.
