New at Shamir: A New Multidisciplinary Voice Clinic

our new multidisciplinary Voice Clinic was officially launched. The clinic was established through the joint efforts of Dr. Avital Planer and speech-language pathologists Tom Dagan and Chen Friedman.

The conference presented an innovative holistic approach that brings together, under one roof, ENT specialists (laryngologists), pulmonologists, neurologists, geriatricians, psychologists and speech-language pathologists. The clinic’s uniqueness lies in providing a practical one-stop-shop solution for patients. A multidisciplinary and integrated model of this kind does not currently exist in other clinics in Israel. The model streamlines the continuum of care, saves patients from having to navigate between different medical professionals, and ensures more comprehensive and accurate diagnosis and treatment.

Tal Kuperstein, father of hostage survivor Bar Kuperstein, shared the complex rehabilitation process he underwent together with speech-language pathologist Tom Dagan, providing a powerful firsthand testimony to the critical importance of patient motivation in rehabilitation. “This is a welcome professional development and a significant step toward advancing patient-centered medicine,” said Prof. Haim Gabriel, Director of the Department of Otolaryngology at Shamir Medical Center. “We are proud to be the first in Israel to launch a treatment model of this kind, and we believe it will save patients significant bureaucracy and enable them to receive optimal, high-quality care.”
