Expansion of Shamir Medical Center Groundbreaking Ceremony for the National Forensic Medicine Institute

Earlier this month, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for the National Forensic Medicine Institute on the campus of Shamir Medical Center (Assaf Harofeh). For the first time since its establishment, the institute will be relocated to a new building tailored to meet the needs of the State of Israel, located within Shamir Medical Center. This is part of a strategic plan to strengthen the National Forensic Medicine Institute and a broader process aimed at transforming Shamir Medical Center into the largest hospital in Israel within the next decade.
In recent years, extensive groundwork has been undertaken by the Ministry of Health to reinforce the institute. This includes a comprehensive review of all aspects related to its strengthening – such as workforce issues and improving the institute’s physical infrastructure- in close cooperation with Shamir Medical Center. The budget for the first phase of the project is approximately 150 million NIS, with completion expected within about three years.

The ceremony was attended by: Minister of Health Uriel Buso, Director-General of the Ministry of Health Moshe Bar Siman Tov, Director-General of the Ministry of Religious Services Yehuda Avidan, Head of the Medical Division at the Ministry of Health Dr. Hagar Mizrahi, Head of the Government Hospitals Division Dr. Dudu Dagan, Deputy Director of Planning and Construction at the Ministry of Health Uri Goldstein, Director of the National Forensic Medicine Institute Dr. Chen Kugel, Director Genedral of Shamir Medical Center Dr. Osnat Levtzion-Korach, CEO of ZAKA Tel Aviv Zvi Hassid, Deputy Chief of the Israel Police’s Investigations Department Yoav Telem.
