A festive evening marked the launch of the new Shlomo Shmeltzer Neurology Institute at Shamir Medical Center (Assaf Harofeh), celebrated at the private residence of Atalia Shmeltzer in Savyon, majority shareholder of the Shlomo Group.
Guests were welcomed by members of the Shmeltzer family — Atalia, Assi, Tovi, and Israel & Ofra Reif — alongside Yair Shamir, Chairman of the Friends of Shamir Association; Dr. Osnat Levtzion-Korach, Director of Shamir Medical Center; and Sigal Eder, CEO of the Friends Association.
Among the notable attendees were:
Atalia Shmeltzer, Assi and Daphna Shmeltzer, Ofra and Israel Reif, Tovi and Inbal Shmeltzer, businessman Sami Sagol and his wife Tova, Dori Manor (Chairman, Lubinski Group), businesswoman Yardena Ovadia, Maccabi and Mati Carasso (Carasso Motors), Gadi Unger (CEO, Telcar), Moshe Gindi (Gindi Real Estate), businessman Natan Hevroni and his wife Mira, Yitzhak Suari (Chairman, Allied Group), Dan Ornstein (CEO, Champion Motors), and many others.
The evening featured a presentation of the new Shlomo Shmeltzer Neurology Institute, led by Dr. Shlomi Peretz, Head of the Neurology Division at Shamir. The institute will serve thousands of patients each year, offering a wide range of neurological specialty clinics under one roof, including:
Epilepsy Clinic
Stroke Clinic
Movement Disorders & Parkinson’s Clinic
Headache Clinic
Neuromuscular Diseases Clinic
Memory Clinic
And for the first time in Israel — a dedicated clinic for M.E.L.A.S. syndrome
It’s worth noting that the Neurology Division at Shamir has undergone tremendous development in recent years and now leads the nation in the number of brain catheterizations, significantly ahead of other hospitals. The establishment of the new institute is part of a broader strategic plan to transform Shamir Medical Center into the largest hospital in Israel over the coming years, in line with government decisions and the region’s projected demographic growth.
Guests enjoyed a festive toast in honor of the New Year and a special performance by renowned mentalist Nimrod Harel, who generously donated his show to the event.
