At the 2nd Annual Research Day in memory of Ziggy Gonczarowski z”l, held at Shamir Medical Center, the most outstanding research projects from the past year were presented by physicians from the Gastroenterology Institute.
The first prize was awarded to Prof. Ilan Youngster for his innovative research proposal exploring the connection between a fiber-rich diet and microbiome changes in the gut, mediated through acetylation of proteins.
The awards were presented by Dr. Osnat Levtzion-Korach, Director General of Shamir Medical Center, Prof. Haim Shirin, Head of the Institute of Gastroenterology and Liver Diseases, and members of Ziggy’s family — his wife Nira, and daughters Dana Harel and Sharon Har-Oz.
