Residents

Through dozens of advanced medical units, modern laboratories, clinics and institutes, the planned center will provide a response to over one and a half million residents who are expected to live in the center and in the lowlands in light of the expected accelerated growth in the coming years.

Visits to the ER

The emergency medicine department in Shamir is one of the largest in Israel and in the world. About 160,000 residents visit the department a year, over 13,000 a month and more than 400 every day.

Births

The maternity department of the medical center includes 26 hospital rooms where about 8,000 babies are born each year. The mothers benefit from varied trainings and a skilled team prepared for each procedure. The ward has a policy of zero separation between the baby and the mother (rooming in method).

Built square meter

Following government decisions from 2016, about 160 dunams will be added to the hospital, a total of 420 dunams. Today the built area of ​​the medical center is 170,000 square meters and approvals have been received for an addition of approximately 850,000 square meters. The medical center will bring under its responsibility hospitals and other facilities with the evacuation of the Tsarifin camp and the approval of the construction of thousands of housing units in the vicinity of the medical center which will lead to a potential increase of another half a million patients.
