    Within a few hours of the beginning of the events of October 7 and in cooperation with the Jewish Agency for Israel, the Joint and many other organizations, the Jewish federations in the United States mobilized immediately and exceptionally to provide a quick response to as many Israeli citizens who need it.

    From assistance in providing food, clothing, housing, financial aid, classes for displaced children, and support for the health system. through medical aid and mental aid to trauma victims by purchasing medical equipment, supporting mental health organizations and trauma care, including support for designated centers, training of thousands of therapists, and support for emergency teams, field personnel, lone soldiers, families, and patients dealing with loss, injury, or kidnapping Their relatives and friends..

    A total of 46.2 million dollars was donated for the purchase of medical equipment, 19,000 medical and mental health care teams were trained, 49,000 people were treated in mental aid and support organizations.

    Since the beginning of the war, the Shamir Medical Center hosted many solidarity delegations from all over the United States who came to support and express sympathy at this difficult time: Los Angeles, Memphis Tennessee, Boston, JCC New York, New Jersey, San Diego.

    At the beginning of the month, a cornerstone laying ceremony was held for the National Institute of Forensic Medicine, at the Shamir Medical Center campus (Assaf Harofeh). For the first time since it was established, the National Institute of Forensic Medicine will be moved to a new building suitable for the needs of the State of Israel on the premises of the Shamir Medical Center, as part of a strategic plan designed to strengthen the National Institute of Forensic Medicine and as part of a process that will transform the Shamir Medical Center into the largest hospital in Israel within ten years.

    In recent years, extensive staff work has been done at the Ministry of Health, in order to strengthen the National Institute, within which all aspects related to strengthening the Institute are examined, including the issue of manpower as well as improving the physical conditions of the Institute in cooperation with the Shamir Medical Center. The cost of phase one of the project is about NIS 150 million and it will be completed in about three years
